The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is pleased to announce that Congresswoman Deb Haaland, a member of the Pueblo of Laguna Tribe of New Mexico, is planning to visit the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe on July 26 & 27, 2019.  Congresswoman Haaland is one of the first two Native American Women elected to the U.S. Congress.

 

During her visit, Ms. Haaland will attend the tribe’s Annual Freedom Walk and the 35th Annual SCIT Powwow.   

 

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe’s Annual Freedom Walk is a walk in support of the non-use of drugs & alcohol amongst the community and will start with breakfast at 7:00 a.m.  The actual walk begins at 9:00 a.m. and will start at the tribal gym and proceed to the campground.  

 

Ms. Haaland also plans to be a dignitary as part of Grand Entry for the 35th Annual SCIT Powwow located at the tribal campground starting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th.
