Jackson, Garth 2/2/1938 - 10/5/2017 Luther Garth Leroy Jackson Sr. age 79 of Luther, MI, formerly of Saginaw, MI, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home. Garth was born February 2, 1938, in Burt, MI, to Balmer (Pauline) Jackson and Lucille (Frank) Bolf . He married Dorathea Houlihan on January 24, 1959. Garth served in the United States Navy from February 16, 1955 until January 30, 1959. He worked for General Motors and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Mt. Pleasant, MI.; a lifetime member of AmVets Post 1988; a member of the St. Ann Senior Center in Baldwin; and a member of the Saginaw Alano Club for many years. Garth was an avid bowler. He loved Michigan Wolverine Football. He greatly loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Garth is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorthea; His children Garth (Connie) Jackson Jr., Charles (Tammy) Jackson, Tracy (Joe) Jackson, Kimberly Jackson, and Kevin (Kristie) Jackson; His brother Charles Jackson; Two sisters Bonnie Jackson and Teri (Frank) Bennett; Ten grandchildren; Seven great grandchildren (with one on the way); and ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in law, Mary Jackson. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place October 9, 2017, 1:00PM at Verdun Funeral Home in Baldwin. A luncheon directly following the service, will be held at AmVets Post 1988 in Baldwin, MI.
