Winter Ceremonies
It was so wonderful to see a historical event like this to take place on our Reservation. I feel very blessed to be a part of our community. The support we received was moving and warmed my heart. I would like to thank everyone for making this possible. Our Tribal Youth and the Tribal College help greatly in the construction of the lodge, along with many other helpers from our community. The maintenance crew did everything they could in providing assistance and making sure, that everything went smoothly. Thank you for all your hard work and efforts. We received many donations from various departments and individual community members, your generous hearts touch us deeply. A big Chi Miigwetch to our Tribal Council for allowing us to host this memorable event, one I will never forget! For this Anishnabequay, it is something I will carry with me forever. The fellowship and guidance I received during ceremonies allows me to carry on until the next time we gather. As I walk this path, I keep in the front of my mind always of our Grandfather teachings and that all Creations Stories are TRUE. That our Water needs protection and to be cared for as our future generations are counting on us to do the right thing. Like our ancestors looked out for us. As Anisnabe, we know how important it is for us to nurture one another and to lift each other up, instead of tearing down or harming one another. I have heard if you cannot help, then do no harm. Lessons comes to all of us in many forms, we may not know what our Brothers and Sisters are going through. Do not judge, just love them as they learn their lessons. Maybe as we walk though our lessons we will receive the same respect. I hope that Ceremonies will return here in our community, that we will not have to wait another 100 years to experience the Love and Healing that flows through the lodge. Where we can speak openly and share our beautiful Quay and Niini teachings. To share with our daughters and sons the roles we have as Anishinabek. That our teaching will live on and never be forgotten.
