ANGEL TREE 2008

These are photos of employees and members of the community sponsoring South Dakota Angel Trees. The Tribe has received 437 wish lists from Head Start students enrolled in the Oglala Lakota Head Start Program from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Once someone decides to sponsor an Angel, they go shopping for everything on the wish list. The wish list is comprised of three items of need such as:

• Winter Coats
• Winter boot
• Shoes
• Hat and gloves/mittens
• Blankets
• Clothing

They also ask for two items of want such as:

• Toys
• Books
• Art supplies
• Puzzles

The Tribe provides all of the transportation costs. On Dec. 15th a caravan of at least three vehicles, a truck and two vans pulling trailers will leave Tribal Operations at 9 a.m. It takes us two days to travel out there and two days to pass out the gifts to all 437 students.
