Tribal Scholarship Program
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribe continues to grow and is a dynamic force in this community. For these reasons, tribal members are encouraged to pursue continuing education to meet the demands for knowledgeable employees to fill key positions within the tribe. There are many opportunities available for team players and potential leaders within the tribal organization and education is a key component necessary to achieve this goal.
The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe funds an extensive scholarship program for tribal members. Under this program students may receive grants for full or part-time enrollment status. These grants are available to undergraduate and graduate students. The Tribal Education Department reserves the right to request an academic progress report or attendance report from public colleges and universities for tribally funded students at anytime.

Eligibility criteria for SCIT scholarships
- Must be enrolled member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited public/private college or university, BIA funded secondary institution or state accredited vocational/trade institution
- Must apply for all campus based financial aid via the institution’s financial aid office using FAFSA standard form
- Must make application for the Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver (only applicable to those enrolling in public colleges & universities in the state of Michigan).
- Must be pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree or state accredited certificate program
- High School students considering dual enrollment with a college or university must apply for the Youth Leadership Program and will not be considered for Tribal Scholarship funding.
