Tribal Council Approves Funding for Improvements

The Tribal Council for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe had a very busy day on May 18, 2000 approving several resolutions that will improve the community in and around the Isabella Reservation.

1.

Mt. Pleasant, Michigan’s Summerfest will receive a $5,000 sponsorship from the Tribe as in previous years for its fireworks display.

2.

A billboard campaign promoting breast feeding that features a Native American family was allocated $1,335 to fund sponsorship.

3.

Tribal Fire and Rescue will receive a new ladder truck, making Fire and Rescue efforts more responsive to the needs of the Reservation community and to gaming enterprises.

4.

Funding was approved to update and improve the Tribal Campgrounds. Improvements will include a toddler pool, an enlarged patio in the pool area, playground equipment, updated water and electrical services for camp sites, upgrading roads leading to the camp sites with better drainage for low-lying camp sites, and improving bathroom and shower facilities. In all, this updating will cost an estimated $400,000.
