Tribe Positioned to Affect National Change

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has recently repositioned itself to cause more positive community relations in and around the greater Mount Pleasant area. The Tribe’s goal is to be known as the developing community that its gaming venture success has allowed it to become. With improved police protection, educational opportunities for its membership, cultural preservation and community services such as water, sewage, housing and housing development. The Tribe enjoys an expanded full service court system, fire and rescue, housing, as well as Senior Citizen outreach programs — just to name a few of its efforts.

“The only way to benefit from these efforts is to education the people of Michigan that we are a viable sovereign nation, and not just a special interest group enjoying gaming revenue,” said Tribal Spokesperson Frank J. Cloutier.

“We are poised to become leaders in and around Indian country. It’s up to us to heighten the awareness of our efforts community wide. This is a must before we can expect the leadership of the United States to recognize us for what we are, and that is a self-determined minority who is now capable of affecting national change.”
